A Fashionistas Wishlist

Moving to 'the big city' opened my eyes to a whole new world, especially to fashion.  Think of it like this: up until a year ago, I didn't even know Marc by Marc Jacobs line existed!  Of course I knew who the designer was at the time, I did have magazines to keep me company, but moving to the city, I started to discover new designers, brands, and most importantly, 'diffusion lines'.  For me, a diffusion line is basically a less expensive line than the designers main line.  Take Marc Jacobs for example, he designs his own line, as well as his Marc by Marc Jacobs line, which is a less expensive alternative, and also appeals to a wider customer base.  And lets not forget Louis Vuitton, which I learned, compared to other designer bag brands (such as Chanel, or Alexander Wang), is probably one of the least expensive lines (exp: Louis Vuitton Speedy bags).

'A Fashionistas Wishlist' is a Christmas wishlist of the things I discovered over the year, and seriously wish to find under my tree this Christmas

All a fashionistas dream come true!

Top Makeup Products of 2012

With the 2012 year coming to a close, its time to put away another year under our belts, and look back at what a year it has been!  There have been both good and bad this year, but I am here to share with you the good.
I have a little confession: I am a makeup junkie.  After having discovered youtube makeup gurus about two years ago, it opened a whole new world to me that I hadn't thought existed; here were girls who were sharing tips and ideas for style and makeup, and they helped me with my skin.  My skin isn't perfect, I do have a little redness, but with the tips I learned from the girls on youtube, and being fearless to try new things, I found the perfect products to help look my best.  So here are a few things I have tried over the past year that I could not live without.

I've tried many moisturizers in the past few years, and having combination skin, I look for one that helps my skin during the cold winter days; this Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer is one of the very few that doesn't make my skin more oily.  I don't use this everyday, only when my skin needs it.

I bought this foundation at the beginning of the year, and tried it, but it didn't stick with me.  I opened it again a few months ago, and fell in love with it; maybe it was the fact that it didn't do well in warm weather, but for the past three months I have been using this foundation non-stop, and am now in need of a new bottle!  I've been using Revlon ColorStay in 110 Ivory for the past week, as I haven't had time to run to Sephora to get some more of this.  The price tag is a little hefty for someone trying to watch their wallet, but I love this!! (P.S. if your looking for a cheaper alternative, Revlon ColorStay is quite nice as well)
Before using any sort of foundation, I use the Makeup Forever HD High Definition Primer (the white one).
I have very pale skin, so looking for products such as foundation or concealer isn't a fun thing to do, but after finding this product at MAC at the beginning of the year, and being in desperate need of a better concealer than the one I had been using, I picked this up, and have never looked back.  I absolutely love this concealer; being in the shade NW15, I find that after blending this into my skin, I can get away with wearing this without having to put a foundation over it to match my skin colour to the rest of my face.

For lip products, I don't like to spend too much on these, as most of the time they tend not to last the entire day, but as far as drugstore lip products go, Revlon takes the cake.  This last year, the Revlon Lip Butters have been a huge favourite with everyone I know.  These lip butters are the kind of thing that you don't need a mirror for.  Their like a cross between a lipstick and a lip balm. The colour payoff isn't as thick as a lipstick, nor is it as light as a lip balm.  An added bonus?  These lip butters are very moisturizing.

Hope everyone is having a good Christmas holiday!

Watch Out For...Mindy Gledhill

I discovered Mindy Gledhill about a year ago, around the time I was just starting to watch more youtube videos than I would ever like to admit.  I recently have started to enjoy her music again, and after hearing her Christmas songs on a few youtube makeup videos, I've started listening to her non-stop again.
Mindy Gledhill is an indie recording artist, and if you were watching the last Olympics, you may recognize one of her new songs, 'Bring Me Close', written for the Fruit of the Loom ads, that were aired during the Olympics.  I am currently enjoying listening to both 'Anchor', and 'Whole Wide World'.  Hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas holidays!

Week of Instagram

Its been both a slow and yet busy week.  Christmas is my favourite time of the year, by far beating out any and all other holidays; everyone is so cheerful, rosy cheeks from the cold, and sitting by the fireplace, its such a wonderful time of the year.  Here are some photos from instagram the past week.

I found this red jacket on the American Eagle website, and I received it in the mail today; I absolutely love it!

My studded shoes that I bought at the TopShop Sale last week; been wearing them everyday!

Cookie with Starbucks coffee - Yummy!

Went shopping at Forever 21 earlier this week; looking at this photo, the jacket is nice, thought I didn't buy it.

Topshop 50% off 12.12.12

Everyone says today, being 12.12.12, is magical.  Seeing as this only happens about once every 100 years, I consider it good luck.  Yesterday, I was sitting on the skytrain, coming home from work, scrolling through my twitter feed on my blackberry, and I found that Topshop_Canada had posted a tweet about their sale, 50% off all regular priced shoes for one day only!
Being a huge fan of Topshop, both my roommate and me woke up bright and early Wednesday morning, way too early for normal people, and headed to downtown Vancouver, where, to our excitement, we were a few minutes early.  Luckily we were the first customers in the store, so we had first pick of the shoes; I, myself, found a few pairs - well, being honest, i bought myself five.  Most of them are flats, as I find it hard to wear heels, and probably don't own more than one or two pairs of heels in my own closet.  I have feet that are particularly hard to find shoes for, one foot being slightly bigger than the other, but the shoes I found, I am absolutely in love with.

The first pair is black loafer-looking shoes with gold stud detailing. The second pair is actually one that i had my eye on after visiting topshop.com.  Their so cute, have three bows, black colour tips, and have a strap that go around the ankle. Being the person who has many pairs of flats, the third pair are my favourite; their a soft pink colour, have a bow detailing, and are really comfy.
After deciding between three different colours - purple, green, or black - I decided on black for the black silver studded flats, and a tiny bow.

Hope everyone had a magical 12.12.12 day!
Happy Holidays!
